From perspective to resilience

Depth-oriented psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that goes beyond managing the symptoms you may be feeling in the moment—stress, anxiety, fear, or sadness.

The focus is to explore and uncover the underlying beliefs, emotions, memories, and patterns of behavior that may be contributing to current struggles or challenges in the present.

Going deeper, and bringing these aspects into full awareness can lead to healing, personal growth, and a better understanding of ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.

My goal is to help adults and teens achieve profound and lasting change by opening them up to new perspectives so they can build a more resilient and joyful life.

Depth-oriented psychotherapy can explore:

  • Whole circumstances and life

  • Relationships with others and oneself

  • Impacts of the greater social context

  • Family dynamics

  • Childhood experiences

  • Recent events and life transitions

  • Current symptoms and feelings

  • Current perspective on how one approaches the world

  • Behaviors, thoughts, and feelings related to eating disorders

Paving the way for a brighter and healthier future

I’m Emily Semow, PsyD, CEDS (she/her)

For over a decade, I’ve been helping teens, adults, and families cultivate a new perspective, connect with who they are, and live a more joyful life.

As a clinical psychologist with extensive experience using depth-oriented psychotherapy, I strive to make our process feel useful and helpful. In addition to listening, I often share observations and key takeaways that provide concrete steps for growth and healing.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in contemporary research and culturally sensitive psychodynamic theory, focused on each person’s unique strengths and struggles. I integrate various therapy modalities and techniques, such as CBT, DBT, FBT, and neurobiological research, to create a comprehensive treatment experience.

My work is strongly informed by cultural humility, meaning that I respect and honor my clients’ diverse identities, understanding that they are the experts on their cultures and experiences. I welcome diverse people, including but not limited to all ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, body sizes and shapes, nationalities, socio-economic levels, and religions.

I am ready to engage in this meaningful journey and honored to support the growth in confidence and resilience that emerges from our collaboration.

Everyone deserves an opportunity to cultivate a new perspective, connect with who they are, and live a more resilient and satisfying life.
